Organizations fighting for men’s rights, male welfare, creating awareness about the abuse of men by society and supporting distressed and victimized men have decided to boycott Aamir Khan’s upcoming movie TALAASH, which is due for release this week.
Around 14 organizations viz. Confidare Research (Bangalore), Save Indian Family Foundation (Bangalore), Save Family Foundation (Delhi), Indian Family Foundation (Mumbai), Protect Indian Family Foundation (Mumbai), Mothers and Sisters of Husband Against Abuse of Law (Mumbai), Men’s Rights Association (Pune), Save Indian Family Foundation (Nagpur), Save Indian Family Foundation (Hyderabad), Hridaya (Kolkata), DAMAN (Kanpur), Pati Pariwar Kalyan Samity (Lucknow), AADMI (Lucknow), All India Mothers-in-Law Protection Forum (Bangalore) have registered their protest against Aamir Khan and more 10,000 members belonging to these organizations have decided to boycott Aamir Khan’s upcoming movie TALAASH.
These organizations fight for welfare of men and their families had raised a protest against Aamir Khan’s show “Satyamev Jayate” as well. It is this show which has peeved the organizations who are now irked against Aamir Khan and have decided to boycott his upcoming movie Talaash.
In his show, Satymev Jayate, Aamir had spread a lot of anti-male sentiment most of which was based on scripted cases and fudged statistics. Episodes showing cases of dowry harassment, domestic violence, female foeticide etc. suppressed actual statistics of harassment and abuse of men and showed scripted stories of false cases.
The show failed to recognize that every year more than 62000 husbands commit suicide as they face rampant terror from their intimate partners and have nowhere to go. Added to this, shows like Satyamev Jayate which are lopsided, anti-male and gender biased further contribute to the development of an anti-male society which considers men as disposable entities and has scant regards for welfare of men. Such shows contribute to the ever growing suicides by men as is corroborated by suicide statistics published by the Honorable Union Home Ministry.
It is very important to stop such shows. Men’s rights organizations have decided to boycott Aamir Khan’s movie with intent to send a message to him that his show was unwelcome and it is pertinent to condemn such people with husband-killer mentality.
Members of these organizations will not only refrain from watching this movie but will also influence other people with all means necessary to stop people from watching the movie Talaash as a mark of protest against Aamir Khan’s sexist anti-male agenda on his show Satyamev Jayate.
This protest is also being observed to send a message to the society that misandry (social hatred against men) and abuse of men will not be tolerated and will be protested against severely.
